Created with Passion and Precision

The creation process of every Paperlegend has one goal: to bring the Joy of Motorsport and cars to collectors and Fans around the world

It all Starts with

a Legendary Inspiration

Every project begins with a story: a legendary driver, an iconic car or the heritage of a brand. Sometimes it’s a historic race moment, sometimes a favourite chassis or livery that means something personal to the client. Together we define which car, era and mood should be captured – not as a 1:1 replica, but as the starting point for a new piece of automotive art.

Phase 1

Ideation / Concepting

In the first phase I translate that inspiration into a clear artistic concept. I simplify lines, surfaces and proportions so the car can work as a paper sculpture – deciding what to keep, what to exaggerate and what to abstract. This is where we define whether the piece becomes a wall-mounted artwork, a free-standing sculpture or the basis for a full-size installation.

Phase 2

3D concept Model

Next, the idea moves into 3D. I build a digital concept model to study the overall shape, stance and key lines from every angle. In this stage we can evaluate different proportions, levels of abstraction and details, and already get a realistic impression of how the sculpture will sit in a space – from small collectable scale up to life-size.

Phase 3

Cut Layout Creation

Once the 3D concept is set, the car is broken down into its paper architecture. Surfaces and volumes are translated into cut lines and fold lines, turning the digital model into a precise cut layout, before i take the sculoture into the real world.

Phase 4

The Papermodel

In this phase the artwork becomes real. All parts are cut and assembled by hand into the final paper sculpture. This is where the concept, the 3D model and the layout come together: proportions, edges and shadows start to work exactly like a car, but in a completely different material. At this stage, we see the final scale, presence and character of the piece.

Some times even a lifesize Artwork

For selected projects, the process continues into a full-scale installation. The same principles are applied at 1:1, but with additional engineering steps: an internal paper and support structure (a kind of under-skeleton), reinforced joints and a build strategy that allows the car to be transported and installed safely. The result is a life-size artwork that occupies real space like a race car – but remains surprisingly light, made almost entirely from paper.
