"My sculptures capture speed, airflow and tension in a material that is almost weightless."

ABOUT Florian

Florian Weber, known as PaperLegend, is a Berlin-based artist whose work sits between car design, motorsport and sculpture. Born and raised in Berlin, he studied Transportation Design at Hochschule Pforzheim from 2011 to 2015 and went on to work in the automotive industry until 2019, contributing to projects for brands such as Porsche, McLaren and Volkswagen.

In 2019 he started PaperLegend, a practice dedicated to building sculptural works from paper that are inspired by racing cars, aerodynamics and the visual language of motorsport. What began with 1:8 wall-mounted car sculptures has evolved into unique collector pieces and full-scale installations, including large commissioned projects for international clients. Alongside his studio work, Florian is actively involved in kart racing, keeping his art closely connected to the dynamics, tension and culture of real-world racing.

Built on my background in car design, my work now sits between sculpture, paper engineering and motorsport. I start each piece like a car: with proportion, key lines and surfaces – then translate that into paper sculptures, ranging from wall pieces to free-standing works and full-scale installations.

On this page you’ll find an overview of my work, my process and the intention behind it – how I use paper to capture speed, movement and the emotion of cars.
